4 Tools Every Mover Must Have
When it comes to choosing the perfect mover, there is a lot to consider. If you are in need of someone with the necessary skills to transport heavy machinery, large furniture or anything that requires special moving skills, it always recommended to choose someone with the right equipment and the experience to use them effectively. These special tools are very important to make sure that the movers don’t face injuries while attempting to move heavy and large items. They also prevent back, arm and neck strain as they lighten the load. Here are the 4 tools every mover must have to move any large and heavy item effectively without the risk of damage or injury.
Pinch Bar
This item is similar to a crowbar but aids you when lifting heavy items. It’s designed to allow you to place spacers or wheels under it. The tool has a long shaft and a curved section at the end of it. It is operated by holding by the straight end and placing the curved end under the heavy item. When you push on one section, the other end lifts the item.
Forklift
A fork lift can move items that are died down or stacked on wooden pallets. The machine has two bars (that resemble the prongs on a fork) that can be lifted and lowered to slide under a heavy item. A fork lift operator needs to be specially trained and licensed to handle the items with extra care.
Dolly
This is one of the most popular pieces of moving equipment and is used by moving companies of all sizes. There are two different types of dollies: utility and furniture. A utility dolly sits upright and has a base with two wheels attached. The device has a ‘lip’ that can be slid under a heavy object in order to lift it and to move it. A furniture dolly has four wheels and is square and flat.
Stair Roller
When staircases are involved, a stair roller is essential to move items. Carpeted staircases make things extra complicated as it is rather difficult to roll items over carpets. A stair roller comes with a bar on one side. This bar is attached to a rectangular frame and the bar side goes on the stair when you pull or push the item up the stairs or down the stairs. Movers attach ropes on to the item to make sure that it is gripped better while it is being moved.
