Movers Explain Extra Moving Costs
Movers Explain Extra Moving Costs
Many of us have come to the conclusion that moving is stressful and expensive. However, with the assistance of the right moving company and knowledge on moving costs, unnecessary stress and unexpected costs can be avoided. Aside from the costs of the move, packaging and moving insurance, there are a range of other costs that most clients are not aware of. Our movers explain extra moving costs.
- Disposal fee or environmental charges
Your final moving bill might have one of these phrases with a specific amount added. Disposal fees or environmental charges refer to the costs associated with the disposal of packaging materials after a completed move. Be sure to discuss this charge with your movers or to make arrangements to handle the disposal or recycling yourself if the amount seems too high.
- Travel fee
If your move is within a local region, be prepared for travel fees as movers are most likely to charge for coming to your house from their office. Usually, this amount comes up to one extra hour. Our movers explain extra moving costs.
- Long carry fees
This is one of the most overlooked expenses involved in moving. When parking near your home or destination is not an option, your movers will charge extra for paid parking and additional carrying. This is something you need to be aware of as the charges are rather steep at around $75-$90 for every 75 feet of carrying.
- Charges for extra stops
If you intend to make any stops along the way, be sure to let your movers know well before moving day as they might affect your final bill. If you have any extra pick-ups, drop-offs or detours, these will become added costs that you might not have considered. In order to not make it a surprise for yourself and your movers, be sure to plan ahead and to let them know.
- Packing and hoisting charges
Most full service movers will offer packing and hoisting as a part of the full moving cost. However, some movers might consider them additional charges. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you clarify everything that is included in the bill, well before you sign the agreement.
It is always best to be aware of these extra costs before you finalize your moving agreement. This will prevent any surprises and present you with a better understanding on what to expect.
