Tips For Packing A Garage & Tools

Packing your garage, gardening equipment and household tools is a very important task. Whether you spend a great deal of time working in your garden or whether you only visit the tool shed when you really need something fixed, your household tools are very important and needs to be transported properly to avoid unnecessary expenses and losses. We all know that most garages are full of items that you really wouldn’t need later on. That is why we created these Tips For Packing A Garage & Tools. Therefore, the very first step would be to figure out what you need to take to your new home and to get rid of the rest.

To get started, you will need to acquire the necessary packing supplies. Many movers recommend that a few crates, cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and a tape gun would be sufficient to pack everything up. Of course, the number of crates and boxes is determined by the amount of things you wish to pack.

The next step is to separate the items. You will need to place any chemicals, gases and liquids aside as well as any sharp objects. These are potentially dangerous items that may be tricky to handle on your own. When it comes to packing sharp objects such as rakes, garden shears and any other items with sharp edges, many movers recommend wrapping up the blade to prevent injuries and damages to other items. You can use newspaper or thick paper to cover up the sharp items.

Items such as lawn mowers and power tools will also have to be packed carefully. Be sure to empty the lawn mower’s fuel tank as well as to remove any batteries from your power tools before packing. As for tools with power cords, wrap the cords tightly around the tools and secure them carefully to avoid damage and tangling.

If you have a grill or a barbecue, you will need to remove the propane tank and to arrange for its transportation. Movers are most likely to not be permitted to transport full or empty propane tanks. If you are using portable gas tanks, you may need to consult your vendor to figure out how to transport them safely as they contain highly volatile fumes which can lead to explosions.
